Hodgson slams Naples knife attacks on Reds fans after stalemate
LIVERPOOL boss Roy Hodgson praised his travelling support after a 0-0 draw with Napoli overshadowed by the stabbing of four Reds fans.
Six English and one Italian were hurt in a series of attacks in Naples in the lead up to last night’s Europa League fixture.
“All I can say how grateful we are for their support and how sympathetic and sad we were to hear they had been attacked and some of them seriously,” said Hodgson.
“We don’t want violence on the pitch or off the pitch and we certainly don’t want situations where supporters don’t want to go and support their team because they are frightened of getting injured.”
Defender Paul Konchesky cleared a Napoli effort off the line but Ryan Babel and David Ngog had chances to win it for the Reds.
