BOOKS NEWS
bond books go live today
Ian Fleming’s estate has announced that the Bond books are going to published digitally in the UK for the first time, but through Ian Fleming Publications – which has owned the rights since the author died in 1964 – rather than through current print publisher Penguin. The 14 007 titles will go live today and will be available at Amazon and Waterstones.com as well as other e-book readers. The Young Bond books, written by comedian Charlie Higson, will follow as e-books in December.
CELEBRITIES TOP THE CHARTS
Four celebrity memoirs have entered the Official UK Top 50 this week, bringing the total number of celebrity memoirs in the chart to 12 – a dramatic increase on last year, where only three made the top 50. Three of the new entries are in the top 10, with Keith Richards’ Life at number one, Katie Price’s fourth memoir, You Only Live Once) and TV’s famous meerkat Aleksandr Orlov’s A Simples Life at number nine. Clearly our literary tastes have a way to go.
