Ancelotti: Torres will score soon
CHELSEA manager Carlo Ancelotti insists striker Fernando Torres will break his goalscoring duck before the end of the season, but refused to guarantee the Spaniard would return to the starting line-up for tonight’s match against Birmingham.
Torres, who was signed for a British record £50m in January, has gone 12 games without a goal for his new club and was given only eight minutes to impress as a substitute in Saturday’s 3-1 win at West Brom.
“He will score,” said Ancelotti. “He can score if he plays. It’s very difficult to change the team that played so well against West Brom, not just for the result, not just for the performance. They did very well against West Bromwich.”
Ancelotti confirmed that Brazilian duo Alex and Ramires have not recovered from injury, but he expects Branislav Ivanovic to be fit.
