Former Generali chief dies at 87
French financier Antoine Bernheim, who two years ago stepped down from the helm of Italian insurer Generali, died yesterday aged 87, according to a statement from a former colleague. Bernheim had served as chairman of Generali, Europe’s third largest insurer, for many years but his term was not renewed at a shareholder meeting in April 2010 following disagreements over strategy with the main shareholder, Italian investment bank Mediobanca.
