Deloitte adds 63 in bumper partner round
BUSINESS services firm Deloitte yesterday announced its latest round of promotions, with 63 new partners taking up roles from the beginning of this month.
The bumper crop of partners matches the number that were promoted last summer, and includes 32 who will become full equity partners.
The majority of the promotions were made in the firm’s London offices, where 39 new partners were named across Deloitte’s audit, consulting, tax, corporate finance and enterprise risk service arms.
It also named four new partners across the firm’s Swiss offices in Zurich and Geneva, and one in Dubai – promoting Richard Clarke in its corporate finance team.
“I am delighted to welcome 63 new partners to the senior leadership of our firm in the UK and Switzerland. They represent an important investment in future success,” said Deloitte’s chief executive and senior partner David Sproul in a statement.
“As business leaders look to their own role in rebuilding economic prosperity across the country, investing in new talent is a signal of confidence, and critical to finding new opportunity in an uncertain economic environment,” he added.
As well as its internal advancements, Deloitte has hired 41 new partners from its competitors and industry roles over the past 12 months.
The number was significantly up on last year, when it recruited just 30 direct entry partners.
Last month Deloitte officially overtook rival PwC as adviser to the largest number of FTSE 250 firms, according to data from Morningstar’s professional services rankings.
The firm now acts as auditor for 69 of the FTSE 250, up from 66 in the previous quarter, while PwC’s clients remained static at 67.
In the FTSE 100 ranking it stayed in third position, but added one audit client to bring its total number to 21.
