Banking trade body to name new chief exec
THE BRITISH Bankers’ Association (BBA) is expected this morning to announce that Anthony Browne, former aide to London Mayor Boris Johnson, will be its new chief executive.
Browne, who until recently wrote a weekly column in City A.M., will take over the post from outgoing head Angela Knight. This year he has helped Morgan Stanley with its government relations department.
Since the financial crisis the BBA has faced a stern task representing an industry that frequently comes under fire and faces growing political interference and regulation.
Knight, a former Tory MP, has spent half a decade at the helm of the BBA. She is leaving to become CEO of another trade body – Energy UK.
