Londoners stay in as UK goes out
Londoners ate and drunk out much less in the autumn, Deloitte said today, while consumers across the rest of the country went out more frequently. On average, Londoners went out for a drink, or to eat, 25.7 times per month in October, according to data from Deloitte, down from 31.1 times in the July. But this fall in London was compensated by rises in other regions to add up to a 3.1 per cent increase across the country as a whole, meaning on average a UK consumer eats or drinks out some 20.4 times a month, up from 19.8 six months ago. Though consumers surveyed expect a continued rise in eating out, Deloitte’s Ben Perkins warned confidence was “fragile”.
