Blue Square Bet winter carnival
WE got off to a great start in the Blue Square Bet Sprint Series at Lingfield Park last week and it’s brilliant to see the second round split into two divisions again, with both first-round winners, Desert Strike and Putin, appearing in the second division tomorrow at 2.00pm.
Our odds on both the leading jockey and leading trainer were shaken up after round one. Luke Morris (5/1) drew a blank due to suspension and has been replaced by last year’s victor William Carson (7/2) at the head of the top jockey betting. The big mover was Charles Bishop, who is 6/1 from 25/1 after picking up 14 points last week.
David Evans remains favourite at 13/8 to land a third successive top trainer award but Violet Jordan is 9/4 from 4/1 after saddling both runners-up last Saturday.
My selection in the first division (1.25pm) tomorrow is hat-trick seeking TEMPLE ROAD. Trained by sprint specialist Milton Bradley, he can go close in his bid for back-to-back course and distance wins.
Desert Strike will do well to defy top weight again in the second division (2.00pm) and the lightly-raced POLAR VENTURE will appreciate the drop back to six furlongs.
Make sure you bet with Blue Square Bet as we will give your money back (up to £20) if you finish second, beaten less than half a length, in all Blue Square Bet Sprint Series races. Visit http://betting.bluesq.com/ for more information.
