More Dreamliners grounded on battery concerns
Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner jets faced more problems today, as more airlines and regulators moved to ground the passenger jets while battery-related problems are investigated.
Yesterday, the US Federal Aviation Administration temporarily grounded the aircraft, saying carriers would have to demonstrate the batteries were safe before the planes could resume flying.
Airlines in Europe, Japan and India quickly joined the US in grounding all Dreamliners.
The passenger jet has been struck with a series of issues over recent weeks, including a battery fire, cracked windscreens, brake problems and fuel leaks.
Boeing has sold around 850 of the new planes, with around 50 delivered to date. Around half of the planes have been in operation in Japan.
