Sturridge sets up South Korea
GREAT BRITAIN 1 or URUGUAY 0
TEAM GB last night defeated Uruguay 1-0 to advance to the men’s Olympics football quarter-final against South Korea.
It is on Saturday in Cardiff that that match will be played but the reality is that last night’s victory, and consequently first place in Group A as opposed to a draw and second, means Britain are in line to face a potential problematic semi-final against Brazil.
Daniel Sturridge’s second goal of the tournament gave Britain the lead and though Uruguay remained a constant threat throughout, a mature performance from young goalkeeper Jack Butland ensured the hosts would not concede.
