Budget watchdog chief cannot match doppelgänger’s accuracy
The Capitalist spent the weekend juggling the two greatest pleasures this world has to offer: watching high quality tennis and reading the latest report from the Office of Budget Responsibility (OBR).
So while most of the world was wowed by Novak Djokovic’s performance in the Australian Open final, we had other things on our mind. Namely, the uncanny resemblance between sport’s most famous Serb and Robert Chote, the close-cropped boss of the OBR.
Unfortunately for Chote, the UK’s economic umpires last week said the economy shrank in the fourth quarter – leaving the OBR’s growth forecast looking optimistic. Time for a Plan B? Or at least new balls?
