Racing is as intense as ever with Team GB in the crowd
WITH the array of dinner parties, live music and pop-up bars on display at Cowes week, it would be easy to forget that there is actually some sailing to be done. Around 1,000 boats and 8,500 competitors are in action over the week, watched by Team GB sailors fresh from winning medals at London 2012.
Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark, who claimed silver medals in last week’s women’s 470 class event, and Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell, who took silver in the men’s race, are set to attend on Friday, the penultimate day of racing.
Competition has been as lively as ever this week, and yesterday’s racing saw an upset at one of Cowes week’s flagship events the Britannia Cup, where hot favourite Powerplay lost out to challenger Pace.
