Dembele set for Tottenham talks as AVB eyes Modric replacement
TOTTENHAM were last night given permission to speak to Fulham midfielder Moussa Dembele over a potential transfer to White Hart Lane after the two clubs agreed a fee for the Belgium international.
Along with Real Madrid’s Esteban Granero, Dembele is among manager Andre Villas-Boas’s first-choice targets to replace Croatian playmaker Luka Modric, who on Monday joined Real for £30m, and he could yet be the second significant player to leave Fulham before the August 31 transfer deadline.
American international midfielder Clint Dempsey is this season yet to play a competitive fixture for Martin Jol’s side after telling the club he no longer wanted to play for them, though Sunderland’s Kieran Richardson is expected to arrive.
