Domino’s Pizza tries to tempt Swiss in fresh expansion drive
DOMINO’S PIZZA is to step up its expansion across Europe after buying the rights to operate stores in Switzerland, Lichtenstein and Luxembourg.
The pizza chain, which has over 700 stores in Britain, Ireland and Germany, yesterday announced it will pay Global Brands £4.7m for Domino’s Switzerland, which already operates 12 outlets in the country.
The deal also includes the exclusive rights to operate and franchise Domino’s stores in Liechtenstein and Luxembourg as well as an option to buy the master franchise agreement for Austria.
“Switzerland represents a good opportunity to continue our expansion into Europe by acquiring an existing business with a basic infrastructure and some existing stores with good potential in a very affluent consumer market,” Lance Batchelor, chief executive said.
Domino’s plans to open at least 25 stores over the next five years, with an eventual aim of reaching 65 outlets.
