Huawei reveals world’s fastest mobile phone
SAMSUNG and Huawei yesterday became the first in a slew of electronics companies to showcase their latest technology at this year’s international mobile trade show.
Mobile World Congress – the industry’s week-long jamboree that officially kicks off this morning – will see some of the biggest players in the market promoting new wares, as well as providing a glimpse into future developments.
Samsung was first off the mark yesterday, unveiling its latest challenge to Apple’s iPad Mini and Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablets, the Galaxy Note 8.0.
The device is the latest in a line of smaller-sized tablets, which have become popular due to their lower prices compared to full-sized tablets.
The Galaxy Note 8.0 boasts an eight-inch screen, compared to the iPad Mini’s 7.4 inches, and will launch in the second quarter of this year.
Chinese telecoms company Huawei, which has seen growth explode this year as smartphones become increasingly popular in emerging markets, yesterday made a bid to compete against Apple and Samsung in the Western world, unveiling its high-end Ascend P2 smartphone.
Huawei claims the Ascend P2 boasts faster data connections than its rivals, with download speeds of up to 150 Mbps over advanced 4G networks.
This week will also see new products from Nokia and Sony, as well as announcements from Visa and MasterCard as they promote their mobile payments services.
