Young brothers tame Dragons’ Den investors
DRAGONS’ Den is a notoriously high-pressure platform on which to present your ideas to the world, but three young entrepreneurs had investors stumbling over each other to plough money into their business last night, landing £120,000 of funding from Peter Jones for their range of fashionable tech accessories.
Brothers James and Richard Gold and friend Lewis Blitz tamed the dragons after a tough pitch, with Jones beating Deborah Meaden and Theo Paphitis to take a 30 per cent stake in Skinnydip, which makes chic iPad and iPhone covers as well as headphones and speakers.
The pitch from James, 25, Richard, 23, and Lewis, 25, had the usually-intense dragons bowled over, despite James unwittingly miming the others’ lines, bringing raucous laughter from the investors.
Jones said: “ The thing that sealed it for me is that they’re looking at the tech accessory market in a completely fresh way with the accent on design and fashionable fun.”
