Analyst Views | Did the trading update change your outlook on whitbread?
JAMES HOLLINS INVESTEC
Whitbread’s fourth quarter like-for-like revenue was 2.7 per cent, below our 4.7 per cent forecast… Full year results are on track to be in line with expectations, according to the statement. However, given the unattractive valuation multiples, we retain our “sell” stance.
RICHARD HUNTER HARGREAVES LANSDOWN
This has been a company which rarely disappoints, and investors have been rewarded in staying with the stock, with the shares having risen 51 per cent over the last year… Despite the general market jitters, the consensus of the company as a “buy” is likely to remain intact.
SIMON FRENCH PANMURE GORDON
The group is on track to deliver full year results in line with expectations and therefore we expect no change to consensus expectations of £350.4m profit before tax…We remain cautious on current trading and the increasingly competitive environment for budget hotels and hence reiterate “hold”.
