Deal for three? Lunch with Jim goes onto eBay
THE BIDDING is afoot – multi-millionaire fund manager Jim Mellon is currently being auctioned off on eBay. Well, lunch with him, at least.
Mellon is often referred to as the British Warren Buffett and now the Isle of Man-based fund manager has taken the analogy further by offering a power lunch with himself to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going to charity – as Buffett does. The move followed an article in The Capitalist earlier this week which urged the UK’s financial bigwigs to follow in Buffett’s footsteps and auction off the chance to spend a few hours with them over some delicious food. Mellon answered our call and has offered himself up in aid of Wellbeing of Women – a charity of which is sister Claire is a trustee.
He will take two people to lunch, at a convenient time for all parties – and will match any bid, up to the value of £10,000 – to add to the charity’s final tally.
“It’s a great idea – sadly, I’m a pale imitation of Warren Buffet but happy to do a lunch for two people at a mutually convenient time,” he told us.
With an estimated fortune of £850m – a power lunch with this man is priceless. Search for: “Power lunch with Jim Mellon to benefit Wellbeing of Women,” on eBay and start bidding.
