A warm welcome to race-goers from London’s business paper
WELCOME to today’s special Saturday edition to celebrate one of the greatest and most exciting sporting events of the year. Here at City A.M., we are truly passionate about the Investec Derby as well as horse-racing in general. Our readers work hard – but they also love to play hard, and that means they have a keen interest in racing, a pursuit that has always been closely followed in the City.
For those of who you who don’t currently read City A.M., London’s business newspaper, let me tell you a little about us. Every single day, we distribute over 118,012 copies of our paper at stations and offices at a growing number of locations in and around London. Our editorial line is as clear at it is distinct. We like the City, we love business and finance and we support London’s business and financial community: professionals in firms, large and small investors and entrepreneurs. We support capitalism and the market economy, honesty, hard work, ambition, entrepreneurialism, meritocracy and progress. We always tell it as it is, never sensationalising or exaggerating the news and providing all of our content in a concise and well illustrated format deliberately designed for our time-poor readers.
We are committed to providing business folk with all the key stories, facts, analysis and opinion that really matter to their professional lives. We also help our readers manage and grow their wealth. Just as importantly, we do our best to guide them when it comes to spending their hard-earned cash to enjoy themselves. We therefore have a particular interest in horse racing and – almost uniquely – we publish a brilliant Punter section on Fridays, as well as our daily must-read sports section. At a time when other media have cut their racing coverage, we are proud to have done the opposite and to have recruited Britain’s top commentators.
This is a special edition of our paper, focusing on today’s races. On a regular working day, City A.M.’s daily news section is made up of corporate, financial and economic stories, as well as key political and regulatory stories. The paper regularly runs interviews with business leaders. The news pages also contain a variety of corporate and economic comment. Our brilliant diary column – The Capitalist – chronicles the social lives of the City’s most colourful figures. Our exceptional comment and debate pages – The Forum – are the place to go for the best opinion and analysis on the big stories on the economy, finance and politics. Regular columnists and outside writers – including many City-based figures who want to share their views on an important matter – coexist on a daily basis. The Forum also includes a daily Debate column, where two writers are pitted against each other.
Our business features section is dominated by investment, trading and wealth management pieces but also includes a range of articles on other business topics, including careers. Our daily lifestyle pages cover a vast range of subject matters, including travel, restaurant reviews, food, fashion, technology, books, arts, entertainment, motoring and property.
The daily sport section reports and comments on all the major events and games, with a bias towards sports of interest to London-based professionals – and that includes, needless to say, horse racing, augmented by our Friday Punter pages.
If you don’t live in our ever-growing distribution areas in London and the Home Counties, turn to our website at www.cityam.com or subscribe to our free mid-morning markets and corporate news email on our site. City A.M. is London’s business newspaper – make it your paper.
