Warwick Business School to launch campus in the Shard

Warwick Business School has struck a deal to open a London campus in the Shard skyscraper as it looks to attract students wanting to study in the capital. 

 

The school will convert the 17th floor of the 87-storey building into teaching space with two lecture theatres, eight smaller seminar rooms and an IT lab. 

 

It will teach evening classes of its MSc in Finance and MSc in Human Resource Management there, as well as its Executive MBA, with courses due to start in January next year. 

 

Dozens of universities have set up camp in London to tap into the capital’s booming student market and increase their exposure to international students.

 

Bangor, Coventry, Cumbria, East Anglia, Sunderland, Ulster and Liverpool universities have all established campuses in recent years. 

 

Northumbria will launch a campus in September while Loughborough will open a campus on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in 2015.

 

Business schools have also been expanding in London’s financial districts to attract students. Cass Business School recently opened more teaching facilities at 200 Aldersgate in the City for executive short courses.

 

 

 

Liverpool is set to launch a campus at 33 Finsbury Square in the City for postgraduate students in September.

 

Newcastle’s Northumbria University will also set up a base in the City in September, providing business-related programmes. 

 

Sunderland University opened a campus in Canary Wharf in 2012. 

 

Coventry was one of the first to launch a London campus in the City in 2010. It now offers 18 degrees at its site near Bishopsgate.
