Senior Whitehall civil servant links up with Panmure Gordon
CITY broker Panmure Gordon has appointed a senior Whitehall civil servant to its research unit as part of a tie-up with the government.
Simon French, chief of staff to the government’s chief operating officer Stephen Kelly, has joined the company on a 12-month secondment as a senior economist in the company’s research division.
The placement is part of a wider collaboration between Panmure and the Cabinet Office to help the government get more insight into UK mid-market companies.
“Panmure Gordon’s research has always been substantive and meaningful, but we think that now is the right time to evolve and add to our traditional suite of products by bringing a thematic overlay and understanding to our research offering,” head of securities Patric Johnson said.
French has held several senior roles within the Cabinet Office and was previously an economic adviser at the Department for Work and Pensions.
