City to debate Salesforce renaming of Heron Tower
The row over the renaming of the tallest building in the City to Salesforce Tower took another turn yesterday after the City of London agreed to hold a public meeting to decide whether permission should be granted.
The owners of the Heron Tower at 110 Bishopsgate announced in May that it would be known as Salesforce Tower as part of a deal that saw the US cloud software firm become its biggest tenant.
The City’s planning committee chairman Michael Welbank said permission to rename a building did not usually have to be granted by the committee.
“In this instance, I am requiring the decision to go to committee on 17 July,” he said.
The unusual move follows protests from other tenants.
