Injured Kimi misses F1 test
FERRARI’S Kimi Raikkonen is to sit out this week’s official Formula One test at Silverstone following his 150mph crash at the British Grand Prix on Sunday.
Raikkonen escaped with bruised ankles and knees after smashing into a metal rail on the opening lap at 47G – 47 times the force of gravity. The incident caused an hour-long break in the race, which Lewis Hamilton won for Mercedes.
The Finn’s place in the two-day test, which starts today, will be taken by Marussia driver Jules Bianchi, though Raikkonen is expected to be fit to race in the German Grand Prix on 20 July. A Ferrari spokesperson said: “Kimi is fine. He wanted to drive, but we want him to rest.”
