Rose nets successive titles and a Major boost at Scottish Open
ENGLAND’S Justin Rose heads into this week’s Open Championship as the world’s most in-form golfer after he claimed his second title in as many events yesterday.
Rose followed up his win at the National on the PGA Tour last month by winning the Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen by two strokes from Sweden’s Kristoffer Broberg.
The 2013 US Open champion birdied four of the first six holes to pull away from joint overnight leader Marc Warren and completed a flawless 65 to end on 16 under par.
“I couldn’t have scripted it better,” said Rose. “I’ve never won two in a row and I’ve certainly never won three in a row so I’m in uncharted territory.”
Warren finished five shots adrift of Rose in third place, one ahead of fellow Scotsman Stephen Gallacher, who earlier joined Chilean Felipe Aguilar in setting a new course record of 63, Ireland’s Shane Lowry, English youngster Tyrrell Hatton and Italian world No72 Matteo Manassero.
