City Views: Where do you think Tesco went wrong and what is your view on the CEO change?
PAUL O’REILLY | VIRTUAL 1
I believe that Tesco should get rid of sections such as gardening and homeware. Also, Tesco was wrong to introduce auto-checkouts, as it needlessly cut of hundreds of jobs. I have no view on the CEO change other than I hope he will improve the company.
RICHARD HILL-TOUT | SAUL TRUSTEE COMPANY
Tesco focuses too much on money and not enough on what the customers want. The brand is too big and so are the shops themselves. I never shop in Tesco and instead shop at Ocado, because you get what you pay for, and with much better quality.
KATIE HILL | SOCIAL INVESTOR ADVISOR FOR THE CITY OF LONDON
I think Tesco invested too far east, and didn’t focus or even realise what people want there, which then saw money wasted. I hope the new CEO Dave Lewis, who created the Dove products, will put Unilever’s ethics into Tesco to make it ethical and profitable.
