Student attempting to break cycling World Record, fight cancer and woo employers
Word has it students have to go that extra mile in order to make themselves stand out from the crowd to employers these days. And one Loughborough university student is taking that to the extreme – cycling 3,868 extra miles.
James Bowtell is currently attempting to break the Guinness World Record for cycling across Europe in under 45 days.
Going under the name Velo7, the team is raising money for Cyclists Fighting Cancer, as well as raising Bowtell’s employment prospects. He set off from Ufa in Russia on 27 July and will pass through seven countries before reaching his destination in Portugal.
Halfords, Unilever and Peugeot are all sponsors, with the bikes-to-car retailer providing the Boardman Pro Carbon cycle used by Bowtell in his challenge. Head on over to Velo7’s JustGiving page if you want to contribute.
