London’s most chic postcode? Look no further
BORIS Johnson has been looking for something. No, not a hairbrush, but London’s most stylish postcode – to celebrate London Collections: Men, the menswear answer to London Fashion Week, which launched yesterday.
Well, the mayor can call the sartorial search off now and look no further than the City – the style here is as sharp as a pair of Jimmy Choos.
“We see lots of slick and creative suit designs at our City studio – it is a very stylish London postcode,” Elizabeth Grew, studio manager at bespoke suit service A Suit That Fits told The Capitalist.
“City gents want to subtly stand out and by carefully selecting small details to jazz up their three-piece suits they ensure that their looks stand out from the crowd.”
Tailors from Savile Row to Shoreditch are used to dressing the City’s snazziest figures. “We dress men and women from the like of Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, Hiscox and Citibank,” says Clerkenwell based tailor Susannah Hall.
In fact hedge fund star Pierre Legrange likes bespoke suits so much he and his fashion designer partner bought Savile Row stalwart Huntsman this time last year.
The City’s chic cachet has been aided in no small measure by Mark Carney. Hardly a mention of him goes by without a comment on his well-cut suits (though the Bank of England was tight lipped when it came to who his tailor is).
