Derivatives guru exits trade body
VETERAN trade body chief Anthony Belchambers yesterday said he will step down from the influential Futures and Options Association (FOA) trade body after more than 20 years leading the group.
Belchambers, founder of the FOA and a seasoned champion of the derivatives sector, will take on a pared-back role as special adviser when he leaves the association on 10 March.
He will be replaced by Barclays Capital’s derivatives legal expert Simon Puleston Jones, who currently chairs the FOA’S legal working group.
“Under his stewardship, vision and with limited resources, the FOA has moved from strength to strength and has become a key part of the success and development of the listed derivatives industry,” FOA chairman Steve Sparke said in a statement.
The departure comes as the FOA prepares for formal affiliation with the Futures Industry Association, its US equivalent. The tie-up will create a global organisation called FIA Global, with a separate European section called FIA Europe.
