Revealed: Sloane Square early birds
WHAT time do you rock up at work in the morning? Are you all “at the desk by 7am, granola eaten and ready for action”? Or more of a “rolling in the door at 10am, Square Mile coffee and croissant in hand” type? We all know that industries have different work patterns and now we have a handy map as proof.
Neal Hudson, housing market analyst at Savills, created the above with the help of a UCL researcher who pulled together the data of peak morning exit times at different stations. And what does it reveal?
Well, Canary Wharf and the City show the same time, between 8.45am and 9am (later than we would have thought). They’re beaten to their desks by the hedgies et al around Sloane Square who arrive at 8.30am–8.45am. The media types and retail workers around Oxford Circus steam through at around 9am–9.15am. But what about the red dots around Wood Lane? A quick look and you find the data is from 2012, before the BBC shut its Wood Lane-based TV Centre. What can we take from this? Work in the media if you want a lie-in. We should keep in mind the data is probably skewed by any poor soul living on the Northern Line who leaves at 7am to maximise their chances of getting on the tube.
