Ant and Dec help Morrisons to bring us mythical Market Street
THERE appears to be no end to the amount of trendy food markets popping up in the capital – a bit of Borough here, Maltby Street there, a dash of Exmouth, etc. Well, now there’s a new one, brought to us by, erm, Morrisons and called, well, Market Street.
The market is more of a concept than a reality (the supermarket claims to have “market freshness and market prices”) but tonight Market Street comes to life on our small screens in an ad, during the break of yet another fictitious boulevard, Coronation Street.
Morrisons, clearly still smarting from its latest decrease in sales, looks to be trying to cash in on the nation’s rekindled love for a market. And who better to convey the new message than primetime doublet Ant and Dec?
The pair are seen strolling down the bustling street joyously picking up their wares from the market stalls like a pair of giddy Disney characters. It looks like a right laugh. It’s just a shame the place doesn’t actually exist.
