Any Other Business – 04/02
STAFF at Wonga must be celebrating their move to Camden. New chief executive Niall Wass decided to bring all of the payday giant’s staff under the same roof for the first time and it’s a pretty nice roof too – that of the old Carreras Cigarette Factory, with its stunning art deco facade. Swish! But we wonder if Camden is quite so happy about its new inhabitants? Camden Council has actually blocked payday loan company websites from its IT networks. You can’t access Wonga’s website, or any other payday loan company’s, from public computers in libraries, council buildings or when using Camden’s 30-minute free wifi network. Welcome to the neighbourhood guys…
OHH LA LA - This week the PR industry waved “au revoir” to one of its oldest names, College Group, and said a bemused “bonjour” to Instinctif Partners. The group was re-named to create a more international sounding moniker for the company, which has a presence in 12 countries. Some have been left wondering why its new name sounds so very French though, when France is one country it has no presence in? Well, we suppose it does have an office in Belgium.
