FA Cup: Blunt Fulham dumped out of Cup by Blades
FULHAM 0 vs SHEFFIELD UNITED 1
(After extra time)
FULHAM boss Rene Meulensteen admitted his team’s lack of creativity in last night’s embarrassing FA Cup exit was so alarming they could have played for a month and still not scored.
Sheffield United, 23rd in League One and the lowest ranked team left in the competition, won the fourth-round replay thanks to a header from Shaun Miller in the final minute of extra time.
Meulensteen said: “We just didn’t do enough to create anything. We could have played until b***** next month and we wouldn’t have scored a goal.
“If you talk about this game and ask ‘have we hit rock bottom?’, we probably have. It was by far not good enough.”
Fulham have won four of 15 games since Meulensteen succeeded Martin Jol as manager in December and have slumped to the bottom of the Premier League.
