We must come out tough, says skip Murdoch
BRITISH skip David Murdoch has called on his team-mates to hold their nerve and seal a place in the curling semi-finals with victory in today’s last round-robin match against China.
A 7-6 defeat to Norway yesterday leaves Britain tied with the Scandinavians in the fourth and final qualifying position and needing victory over third-placed China for a chance to progress.
Murdoch’s men though may still have to play a tie-breaker tomorrow should Norway continue their winning run against Denmark.
Murdoch said: “We are going to have to come out tough. It is still in our hands, we can’t let that defeat affect us too much.”
Cross snowboarder Zoe Gillings narrowly missed out on a place in yesterday’s final, coming fourth in her semi-final to place ninth overall.
Britain’s two-man bobsleigh team, John Baines and former grenadier guardsman Lamin Deen, finished 23rd after the first two heats.
