UK’s first ever peer-to-peer bond platform launches for small firms
UK BOND Network (UKBN) has launched the UK’s first peer-to-peer bond and loan platform for businesses looking to raise up to £4m.
The launch comes following a trial in December that saw Red Rock Resources, a mineral exploration and production company, raise £500,000 though a bond sale on the platform.
“There are high-quality small and medium-sized enterprises out there that have struggled to source suitable funding as a result of the tight financing environment,” said UKBN chief executive and founder Chris Maule.
“Through our strong network of both individual and institutional investors, we know that there’s an appetite for investing on commercial terms in these businesses, many of which are underserved in the current market,” Maule added.
UKBN said that a London Stock Exchange-listed firm with a market capitalisation of around £100m has already signed up to use the platform to raise funds in the coming weeks.
