Geeky Marissa Mayer glams up for photoshoot in US Vogue
YAHOO boss and self-labelled nerd Marissa Mayer has done a very un-geeky photoshoot for the September issue of US Vogue magazine, which came out yesterday.
Mayer has been at the helm of the internet giant for just over a year, but still describes herself as “geeky and shy” and says “I like to code” in an interview for the fashion bible.
After posing for the spread in a Michael Kors sheath dress and Saint Laurent by Hedi Slimane ankle-strap heels, The Capitalist would question Mayer’s geek credentials – as would the magazine itself – which kindly observed that the first lady of tech was an “unusually stylish geek.”
Indeed it appears her husband, investor Zachary Bogue, isn’t entirely buying the shy girl act either: “I think she’s not as shy as she thinks she is,” he told Vogue.
Also in the article, titled Hail to the Chief, the former Google employee claims to be the accidental Silicon Valley heroine: “I didn’t set out to be at the top of technology companies.”
“It’s not like I had a grand plan – it just sort of happened,” explained a modest Mayer.
