Housemovers heat up Aga sales as chief exec cheers rising orders
A PICK-UP in the level of housing transactions has helped to warm Aga Rangemaster’s sales in the second quarter, according to the cooker-maker’s chief executive.
William McGrath said after a slow start to the year, it had seen recent trading improve, with cooker orders up eight per cent at the half year.
Revenues edged up £300,000 to £119.5m compared to £119.2m the same time last year.
“The tide in our key markets is turning changing the prospects for the business…The levels of housing transactions which are a key driver of our business have started to pick up and we expect that improvement to feed through into higher sales volumes in the second half,” he said.
The Warwickshire-based maker of large cast-iron cookers launched the first electric version in 2004, and its Aga Total Control model, launched two years ago, now accounts for 30 per cent of sales.
