Magath: We’ll beat the drop
NEW Fulham manager Felix Magath is “sure” his team will avoid Premier League relegation this term and has targeted six wins from their final 12 games to achieve that goal.
The Cottagers are bottom of the table and four points adrift of safety ahead of tomorrow’s trip to 17th-placed West Brom.
A run of five defeats from six league games saw predecessor Rene Meulensteen become the second manager sacked by Fulham this season. But Magath believes the atmosphere at the turbulent west London club remains positive and that his new charges boast the capability to survive.
“I’m sure we will avoid relegation with this team as the players are willing to avoid relegation,” he said.
“In the first days here the work we’ve achieved has been very good. We have a good atmosphere at the club when we all work together.”
Magath, 60, won the Bundesliga title in his native Germany with Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg and is renowned for his strict training methods and emphasis on fitness.
