Cyprus appoints new central bank governor
Cyprus has appointed Chrystalla Geoghadji as the new governor of the country's central bank.
Geoghadji has been Cyprus's auditor general since 1998. She will take up take up her new post on 11 April.
The appointment follows yesterday's announcement by the government of confirming the resignation of its central bank governor Panicos Demetriades.
Relations between the central bank governor and the government had been poor for much of the past year.
President Nicos Anastasiades had in the past gone so far as to openly call for Demetriades' resignation.
