Sellafield clean-up contract renewal for Amec
Amec has announced the renewal of a contract for a further five years to clean up the nuclear site at Sellafield (release). That's the first renewal for Amec, with more available for a total life of 17 years.
Clive White, president of Amec's European clean energy business, said that "Sellafield is one of the world's most complex and challenging nuclear sites" and that Amec "will be focused on accelerating the clean-up of the high hazard legacy ponds and silos, which are acknowledged as the priority area".
Earlier this year, City A.M. reported that executives of the publicly-funded Nuclear Management Partners (NMP) consortium that has been awarded this renewal had billed the taxpayer £714 to provide a taxi for a cat.
