Trailing Harlequins aim to salvage season with five consecutive wins
HARLEQUINS prop Kyle Sinckler insists his team are capable of overcoming the odds to secure an unlikely Aviva Premiership play-off place with five rounds to go.
Sinckler made his third top-flight start last weekend as defeat to Saracens at Wembley left Quins sixth in the table, nine points adrift of fourth-placed Leicester Tigers ahead of a pivotal run-in.
But the 20-year-old insists Quins can win all five remaining matches, starting tomorrow at home to London Irish.
“We’re definitely not giving up on that top-four place, we’ll keep trying until the end of the season,” said Sinckler.
“There’s no way anyone at Harlequins will give up, we’ll keep taking it game-by-game and focus on the last few games.
“It’s a five-game season now, we have to treat every game like a cup final, perform well and see where it takes us.”
While Harlequins face an uphill battle to secure a top-four finish, Saracens are all but certain of a semi-final clash as they sit top.
Looking to bring them back down to earth on Saturday are London Wasps and lock Kearnan Myall is hoping home comforts can help his side do exactly that.
“We have some tough games still to come, but we also have a lot of games at home and are targeting wins in all of them,” he said.
“We have a proud home record and since I have arrived the fans have been fantastic and the whole club is great, so hopefully that can help us get the win.”
