Collingwood wants to defend title before hanging up whites
FORMER England star Paul Collingwood is planning to retire at the end of next season and is weighing up whether to pursue coaching or punditry.
The 37-year-old all-rounder captained Durham to County Championship glory this year and wants a shot at defending the title before bowing out.
“I am enjoying myself,” said Collingwood, who won 68 Test caps.
“I have one year left on my contract and I would have thought that would be it after that.”
Collingwood is to spend the winter on Scotland’s coaching staff as he looks to finalise his retirement plans, but admits broadcasting has been a pleasant surprise.
“I have enjoyed the TV stuff more than I thought I would. I quite enjoy providing in-depth analysis,” he added. “Coaching is always the role I have always fancied but you have got to experience it, which is why I am doing this job [with Scotland] through the winter.”
