Premier League: Warnock hails battling Palace after Eagles finally take flight
EVERTON 2 CRYSTAL PALACE 3
CRYSTAL Palace manager Neil Warnock says his team’s morale will be boosted by yesterday’s hard-fought win at Goodison Park.
The south Londoners recorded their first Premier League victory of the season despite falling behind early on when Romelu Lukaku fired home. Mile Jedinak’s penalty levelled the scores before Fraizer Campbell and Yannick Bolasie gave the visitors an unlikely two-goal lead in the second half. A Leighton Baines penalty on 83 minutes threatened to thwart Palace, but Warnock’s men battled on to climb out of the relegation zone.
“This gives everyone a lot of belief. We should have won the other two games against Newcastle and Burnley and we were disappointed not to,” said Warnock, who was named Palace manager last month.
“I thought we deserved to win the game. What pleased me was that Everton are a good side and we had to hang in there at times and put our head in and make tackles and blocks, and I like that kind of football.”
