In Pictures: London’s best offices to work in
If you could work in any office in London where would it be? Giving yourself vertigo half way up the Shard? Zipping down a slide at Moshi Monsters’ HQ in Shoreditch?
Well, stop wondering because the good people at the British Council for Offices (BCO) has come up with the top six offices to work from in London.
The six buildings mentioned are all winners in different categories and they will all go forward to battle it out nationally against their regional peers. Go team London.
Best corporate workplace:
BBC Broadcasting House
It's a snazzy refurb. Will BBC Broadcasting House end up going against its Salford-based cousin Media City? Will the award coax the Beeb back from Manchester all together?
Who knows, but Broadcasting House, a shining beacon of journalistic hope nestling at the top of Regent’s Street, has been awarded because of its impressive renovation.
Brent Civic Centre
But the Beeb couldn’t quite beat off competition from Brent, its Civic Centre has been awarded joint Best Corporate.
Best refurbished workspace:
One Embankment Place
PwC are the lucky ducks in this office winner, judges described the refurbishment as an “exemplar sustainable office”. This rooftop lavender garden is certainly a nice addition. We still think it looks like a crouching spider from across the river. Maybe it’s just us.
Best commercial workplace:
One Eagle Place
Judges described the redevelopment of this St James’ based building as daunting. But it looks pretty damn nice and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb, which is good.
Best fit out:
Walbrook Building
Arthur J Gallagher won big for their fit out of this City-based office extravaganza. One of the stand out features is this geometric, glass wonder – something visitors see on arrival.
Projects under 200msq (or tiny offices as we like to say):
Stable Street
King’s Cross has transformed into a pretty trendy place to work and Argent’s Stable Street building fits in nicely into that. There’s even a herb garden.
