Berahino enhances England bid as Baggies down hapless Clarets
ENGLAND Under-21 forward Saido Berahino boosted his chances of a senior international call-up with two goals as West Brom cruised to a commanding 4-0 victory over winless Burnley at The Hawthorns yesterday.
Defender Craig Dawson opened the scoring before Berahino fired West Brom into the ascendency with two strikes either side of the interval as Scotland midfielder Graham Dorrans bagged a late fourth.
This victory follows last Sunday’s success against Tottenham at White Hart Lane and lifts the Baggies to 11th in the league standings after a difficult start to the campaign, while Sean Dyche’s Clarets slump to the foot of the table.
Berahino took his tally for the season to five, with his goalscoring exploits potentially forcing his name onto Roy Hodgson’s radar ahead of next month’s Euro2016 qualifiers against minnows San Marino at Wembley and Estonia.
