Severn Trent appoints BT Openreach CEO Liv Garfield
Liv Garfield is to become the new chief executive officer (CEO) of water company Severn Trent. She will be stepping down as CEO of Openreach, BT's local access network division, in the spring of next year. During her time at BT, Garfield oversaw the £2.5bn commercial roll-out of fibre broadband, as well as pushing the case for BT's commercial fibre investment in her previous role as BT's group strategy director. She was also recently named in the top ten of Fortune's list of global young hotshots.
Speaking of her decision to move on from BT, Garfield, said:
It is a huge wrench to leave Openreach but I feel the time is now right to take on a fresh challenge. Our commercial programme to bring fibre broadband to two thirds of UK premises is almost complete, whilst BT's public sector broadband partnerships are making good progress.
