Haskell targets regular place in Wasps’ line-up
WATCHING rather than playing for England has been tough for James Haskell, who is determined to avoid a repeat at London Wasps.
The back row has been plagued with tendinitis for more than a decade, but having featured for Wasps in the LV= Cup recently is desperate to win back his place, starting with Sunday’s home game against Bath.
“Last year it was difficult because I was struggling with injures,” he said. “But I am now fully integrated with the lads and really enjoying the whole experience. People always ask me about England – ‘do I still want to play?’.
“But in fact it is going to be hard to get back into the Wasps squad now they are all fit and that is just as difficult a job for me.”
Saracens and London Irish face difficult away trips at Exeter Chiefs and Leicester Tigers respectively on Saturday. Meanwhile, Harlequins host Gloucester Rugby.
