CSKA star Musa labels rivals Man City very weak
CSKA Moscow forward Ahmed Musa has taunted Manchester City on the eve of their Champions League meeting, calling them “very weak” and depicting them as defensively frail.
The Nigeria international also criticised his club’s stadium ban, which was imposed for incidents of racism among fans and means tonight’s fixture will be played behind close doors, calling it “unfair”. City thrashed Tottenham 4-1 in the Premier League on Saturday but have taken just one point from two group games so far, following defeat at Bayern Munich and a draw at home to Roma.
“You can see they are very weak this year so we are going to try and use that advantage against them,” Musa said. “They are very weak in the defence so we’re going to work against that. We know our weaker points so we’re going to try and do our best.”
On the stadium lockout, which came after partial closures were followed by further incidents of alleged discrimination, Musa said: “Yeah, it’s unfair.”
City defender Pablo Zabaleta refused to rise to Musa’s jibes, singling out the 22-year-old, who scored twice as CSKA beat Kuba Krasnodar 6-0 on Saturday, as a threat. “I think Musa is one of the main players for them,” he said. “We have to try to defend well to stop the strikers. They have good players, great individual players.”
CSKA have lost both of their group matches and were outdone 2-1 and 5-2 by City last year.
A man was arrested for flying a drone over the Etihad Stadium during the weekend win over Spurs, it has emerged. The 41-year-old was found remotely piloting the device from a nearby supermarket car park. He was arrested on suspicion of breaking the Air Navigation Order and bailed for eight weeks. It came days after the flying of a drone bearing a political flag sparked a brawl that caused the abandonment of a Euro 2016 qualifier between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade last week.
