HS2 names trio of infrastructure stalwarts to company board: Christine Emmett, Neil Masom and Baroness Jo Valentine
HS2 has taken another step towards construction after three new non-executive directors were appointed to the board.
Christine Emmett, Neil Masom and Baroness Jo Valentine have all been appointed by secretary of Transport Patrick McLoughlin.
“Jo, Christine and Neil, working with the existing members of the board, will bring the cumulative experience we need for the massive task we face,” HS2 chairman David Higgins said.
HS2 aims to create a high speed rail line connecting the English Midlands with central London, boosting England’s infrastructure. Funding for the project was approved in October of last year.
Emmett has 30 years’ experience of major procurement, including the British Rail Channel Tunnel project, while Masom has previously held high level positions within the Civil Aviation and Defence sectors with BAE systems.
Valentine became a crossbench peer in 2005 and sits on the Lords committee which provides pre-legislative scrutiny of European Infrastructure proposals.
