Lethal Sakho in contention to face Stoke
WEST Ham boss Sam Allardyce will give top scorer Diafra Sakho every chance to recover from the shoulder injury sustained against champions Manchester City on Saturday and to prove his fitness ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Stoke City.
The Senegalese forward has been a revelation for the high-flying Hammers since his £3.5m summer move from Metz, scoring in each of his first six Premier League starts to equal Micky Quinn’s long-held record from the 1992/93 season.
The 24-year-old’s dynamic strike partnership with Ecuador’s Enner Valencia has been an important factor in West Ham’s rise to a Champions League spot, with Allardyce not prepared to rule out his leading marksman. He said: “At the moment it is about 50/50 but there is a lot of recovery time between now and Saturday three o’cock so we will see, we might even wait until tomorrow morning.”
