British man held in Hong Kong over murders
A 29-year-old British man has been arrested in Hong Kong after the bodies of two women were found in an apartment building in the city.
The bodies were found in the Wan Chai district of the city after a call from the man on Friday evening.
One woman was found dead with neck injuries in a suitcase on the balcony of the apartment, while a second woman aged between 25 and 30 was found, also with wounds to her neck, and pronounced dead at the scene after police arrived.
Local police said a knife was seized at the scene and a post-mortem would be conducted to ascertain cause of death.
A Foreign Office spokesman told the BBC “We can confirm that a British national has been arrested in Hong Kong. We are in touch with the local police and stand ready to provide consular assistance."
The man is thought to be a British banker working for a “top-tier global bank” according to a report in the South China Morning Post.
